The second Annual Review of the IDEA Project was organized in Luxembourg by DG SANCO (Directorate C, Health) on December 17th, 2014.
On September 23-25, 2014, the second IDEA Workshop on Characterization and Categorization of Fragrance Allergens reunited leading experts discuss the development of a categorization system for allergens (with special consideration of the use of alternatives to animal testing), the development of a robust post-marketing surveillance in order to feed the risk management process and optimize consumer protection and the interaction between allergens and the human body in different exposure scenarios and for different subpopulations.
The 2013 IDEA workshop dedicated to the characterization of fragrance allergens led to the conclusion that time and resources should be spent on the improvement of the communication between the industry and the dermatology community.
On May 13-15, 2014, IDEA brought together leading toxicologists, dermatologists and risk assessment experts in a workshop to discuss their views on the necessary refinements of the Dermal Sensitization QRA and the work already achieved by the industry / the academia.
The 2013 IDEA workshop dedicated to the characterization of fragrance allergens led to the conclusion that time and resources should be spent on the development of a meaningful categorization system of allergens to be used for further risk assessment and management.
In May 2013, the participants of the IDEA Workshop on Pre- & pro-haptens identified the development of robust methods for the synthesis and analytical quantification of hydroperoxides as a priority.
On March 11-13, 2014, IDEA brought together leading toxicologists, dermatologists and risk assessment experts in a workshop to discuss their views on the necessary refinements of the Dermal Sensitization QRA and the work already achieved by the industry / the academia.
The first IDEA Annual Review took place on December 13th, 2013 in Luxembourg. This event, organized under the auspices of the European Commission, was intended to monitor and validate the progress recorded over the past year, update the program and priorities when needed and ensure that all scientific stakeholders can express their views and get further clarification on the project.
On August 27-29, 2013, IDEA brought together leading dermatology experts in a workshop to express and discuss their views on what is an allergen, how to characterize it and what could be future improvements in the diagnostic of skin sensitization.
On May 28-29, 2013, IDEA brought together leading dermatology, toxicology and chemistry experts in a workshop to express and discuss their views on how the risk assessment of pre- and pro-haptens could be improved.
