The IDEA Hydroperoxides Task Force met on May 11, 2016 in Brussels (Belgium) to discuss the recent analytical developments and decide on the next step
Being largely based on animal data, it was agreed at the IDEA Annual Review 2015 that QRA now needs to transition to alternative methodologies.
Over 2015, IDEA worked on the development of a revised QRA methodology (QRA2), focusing on total exposure of consumers to individual fragrances. For this purpose, a joint academia/industry IDEA working group has reviewed the uncertainties where a safety assessment factor (SAF) is warranted and the scientific basis for the assignment of each SAF value. Moreover, an aggregate exposure model based on actual consumer use of products which involves the utilization of these SAF values has been developed.
The third Annual Review of the IDEA Project was organized in Luxembourg by DG SANTE on December 16th, 2015.
As a follow up of the Hydroperoxides TF report that was presented to the broader group during the IDEA Workshop on pre- and prohaptens in October 20 and 21, 2015, the IDEA Hydroperoxides Task Force presented at its meeting on December 3rd, 2015 the latest analytical results and discussed the next steps for the development of the analytical method.
The third Workshop on pre- and prohaptens (Leuven, October 20 and 21, 2015; Programme) was built on what was discussed and agreed at the June 2015 Expert Workshop on improved mechanistic understanding of pre- and prohapten formation as well as on analytical developments. The intention of this third Workshop was to bridge what has been worked out in the June Expert Workshop and progressed over the summer, with clinical findings.
The second IDEA Workshop on pre- and prohaptens took place on June 16th and 17th, 2015 in Genval, Belgium. The workshop was designed to specifically focus on an improved mechanistic understanding of pre- and prohapten formation as well as on progressing the analytical development for following hapten formation from pre-/pro haptens in raw materials and finished products as well as on the skin.
The IDEA Hydroperoxide Task Force meeting took place on Monday June 15, 2015. Industry and Academia experts on analytical methodologies presented the latest developments on the analytical methodology and prepared the Task Force meeting report that was presented to the broader group during the June's Expert Workshop on pre- and prohaptens.
The second Annual Review of the IDEA Project was organized in Luxembourg by DG SANCO (Directorate C, Health) on December 17th, 2014.
